What it Means for Iconic Characters and legendary IP

Disney turned 100 on October 16, 2023. In that time it has lead the world in storytelling. Human creativity has always been at the heart of this multi-billion dollar imagination machine. That is, until now.

“In a move sending shockwaves through Hollywood, Disney is announcing a three-year partnership with tech giant OpenAI that will make more than 200 characters from Disney available for fans to use in short social videos generated by OpenAI’s platform Sora. The artificial intelligence company says Disney will be able to “set and evolve” the guardrails.” – Today

Why is this important? Because for the first time in over a century, Disney will no longer be driven entirely by human creativity. Also, the characters and stories that came before it are also no longer under a watchful eye. Now anyone will be able to steer Disney intellectual property in whatever direction they choose. No talent required.

If you don’t think that this is a big deal, then you are not paying close enough attention and you should expect more nonsense like this in the near future:

There is nothing artificial about your intelligence.
